Walk(in) Past

Walk(in) Past

2017-2018

Walk(in) Past – a live conversation and a location specific walk exploring the town of Blato, Korčula in partnership with siva)(zona in Croatia. In the video above Rod is being directed in Blato by Peter in Sydney.

Walk(in) Past explores public space, place-making, and memory, with networked media, resulting in a location-specific walk connecting previous residents, “storytellers”, with “walkers” in Blato live from memory with no visual aids.

Using walking, a conversation while negotiating instructive directions, two places and two people, two strangers, were connected simultaneously while exploring Blato from two different places where two different perspectives collide/intersect. Community engagement and participation were core components, while exploring the migrant experience & migration, public & private space, memory of place and personal private histories.

This project was developed with the support of Blast Theory and pvi collective. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
